Navigating Perimenopause and Menopause with Expert Care and Evidence-Based Solutions

Menopause is a natural biological process that marks the end of a woman’s reproductive years. It is characterized by a decline in hormone production of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. While menopause can bring about various symptoms such as vasomotor symptoms, mood swings, and changes in sleep patterns, evidence-based menopause hormone therapy has been shown to be safe and effective in managing these symptoms. Our Menopause Society Certified Practitioners provide a thorough assessment of current and past medical issues along with current symptoms to determine the most suitable treatment options, with shared decision-making, that are tailored to individual needs.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

1

Pre-Visit

Once your appointment is booked and payment is received, you will receive both an email and text confirmation.

Your confirmation email will include instructions for accessing the patient portal. All required new patient paperwork is completed within the patient portal from the Home screen.

New patient paperwork must be completed at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. This allows adequate time for review so your visit can be focused, thorough, and personalized.

If paperwork is not completed in advance, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.

2

Consultation

Appointments take place fully clothed in the comfort of a private consultation room. You will be seated in comfortable chairs, with a beverage of your choice. You will not be asked to undress, sit on exam paper, or wait in a cold room for someone to enter.

This approach is intentionally different from a traditional medical visit. For many patients, the typical exam-room experience can be uncomfortable or anxiety-producing. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, calm, and relaxing environment where we can have an unhurried conversation and work together in a true partnership model.

New Patient Appointments

New patient consultations last 60–90 minutes. During this visit, we will:

  • Review your medical history and intake forms

  • Discuss your current symptoms, concerns, and goals

  • Review individualized treatment and plan-of-care options

Return Patient Appointments

Return visits last 30–60 minutes and focus on:

  • Updates to your medical history or symptoms, as needed

  • Review of your current treatment plan

  • Adjustments or revisions to your plan of care, as appropriate

Our goal is to provide thoughtful, personalized care in a setting designed to help you feel comfortable, supported, and at ease.

3

Review Options

We will take the time to review all appropriate options, discuss the most up-to-date evidence, and clearly outline the benefits and potential risks of each approach. Through shared decision-making, we will work together to determine the best fit for you.

This process includes thoughtful consideration of your individual needs, preferences, and goals, as well as any physical, emotional, or financial factors that are important to you.

4

Vitals & Exam

Your visit typically includes two comfortable, private spaces designed for different parts of your care.

Assessment Room
Vital signs and brief physical assessments are completed in a private assessment room equipped with an exam table and body composition scale. Depending on your needs, this may include measurements, heart and lung assessment, thyroid exam, and body composition analysis for select patients. This portion of the visit is brief and focused, and you remain fully clothed.

Exam Room (When Needed)
If a breast exam, pelvic exam, Pap smear, or procedure is recommended, this portion of the visit takes place in a separate, private exam room using a trauma-informed approach. You will be offered warm or room-temperature cloth gowns, robes, sheets, and blankets for added comfort on a cushioned exam table.

We use Nella KIND reusable speculums exclusively, designed with patient comfort in mind. These speculums are temperature-neutral, smaller in size, and completely quiet, helping to reduce discomfort and anxiety. Footrests or stirrups are available when needed, although many exams can be performed without them.

Your safety, comfort, and well-being are our top priorities. Every step of the exam is explained, consent-based, and paced according to your comfort, with the goal of making each examination as calm, respectful, and pain-free as possible.

1

Pre-Visit

Once your telehealth appointment is booked and payment is received, you will receive a welcome email and text confirmation. This email will include your telehealth visit link, along with instructions for accessing the patient portal.

All required patient paperwork and consents are completed within the patient portal from the Home screen and must be submitted at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. Completing paperwork in advance allows time for review so your visit can be focused, thorough, and personalized.

If paperwork is not completed in advance, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.

2

Joining the video call

Your telehealth visit link is included in your initial appointment confirmation email. On the day of your appointment, you will also receive a reminder email and text message with the link to join your visit.

To ensure you receive your full appointment time, please sign in at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled start time. When you log in, you will be prompted to confirm that your audio and video are working properly. This brief system check helps ensure a smooth visit and minimizes technical delays.

You may also be asked to confirm information or complete brief check-in items before joining the visit. Once completed, you will be placed in a virtual waiting room until your appointment begins.

3

Telehealth visits follow the same thoughtful, unhurried approach as in-person appointments.

FAQs

Have questions about Menopause Care?
Tap to expand items
What is the difference between perimenopause and menopause?

Perimenopause is the transitional phase leading up to menopause, marked by fluctuating hormone levels and symptoms such as irregular periods, hot flashes, and mood changes. Perimenopause can start up to 10 years before menopause.  Menopause is defined as the point when a woman has gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period.

What are common symptoms of perimenopause and menopause?

Symptoms can vary widely (there are over 100 symptoms!) but may include hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, brain fog, sleep disturbances, vaginal dryness, decreased libido, and changes in weight or energy levels. Our approach focuses on identifying your specific symptoms and providing personalized treatment to manage them effectively.

Is hormone therapy safe for managing perimenopause and menopause symptoms?

Menopause hormone therapy is a safe and effective option for many women to manage their symptoms and prevent health conditions like osteopenia/osteoporosis and cardiovascular issues. We carefully assess your medical history, current health, and personal preferences to determine if menopause hormone therapy is right for you and tailor the treatment to your needs.

Are there non-hormonal options for managing menopause symptoms?

Yes, non-hormonal treatments, including lifestyle changes, dietary adjustments, supplements, and certain non-hormonal medications, can help manage menopause symptoms. We offer a range of evidence-based options to create a plan that works best for your individual situation.

Can menopause affect long-term health?

Yes, menopause-related hormonal changes can increase the risk of conditions such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, metabolic changes like diabetes, and recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). Our care focuses not only on managing symptoms but also on implementing strategies to support your long-term health and well-being.
